We are excited to announce the launch of ENAI Summer School 2021 on Academic Integrity targeting PhD students who are interested in academic integrity. We may be able to accommodate non-PhD students, should there be any spaces.

The summer school is being organized collaboratively by Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey; University of Wollongong in Dubai, UAE; and Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences, Lithuania on behalf of ENAI.

The five-day summer school will be between June 14-18, 2021, proceeding the European Conference on Academic Integrity and Plagiarism. Each day will be split into two sessions. Session One will be held 9:00am to 12:00pm and Session Two will be held from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Please note all times are in CEST (UTC+2/GMT+2).

Sessions aim to address 10 topics related to academic integrity which will cover both theoretical concepts and practical skills, in addition to interactive and collaborative discussions. Each session will be delivered by experts from the industry. In addition to lecturing, the experts will provide feedback to students’ research projects.

Due to COVID-19, the summer school will be delivered online.

The registration is free and anyone either from an ENAI member or non-member institution is eligible to apply for the summer school.

ENAI will issue a “Certificate of Attendance” to all participants. As there are no parallel sessions, participants are expected to attend all 10 sessions during the week.

Lecturers:

Sonja Bjelobaba

Sonja Bjelobaba is assistant professor in research ethics at the Centre for Research Ethics & Bioethics as well as assistant professor in Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian at the Department of Modern Languages at the Uppsala university. She is vice-president of European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI) and co-ordinator of the Erasmus+ strategic partnership project Bridging Integrity in Higher Education, Business and Society (BRIDGE, 2020-2023). She defended her thesis at the University of Gothenburg where she, as educational developer, has taught research integrity, postgraduate supervision courses and other courses for faculty relating to teaching and learning in higher education. Bjelobaba’s research concentrates on academic integrity in the Balkans and in Sweden.

Marco Cosentino

Marco Cosentino is Professor of Medical Pharmacology at the University of Insubria since 2001. He holds a MD cum laude, University of Pavia (1990) and a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology, University of Turin (1996). He is director of the Center for Research in Medical Pharmacology, director of the School of Specialization in Medical Pharmacology and Coordinator of the PhD program in Experimental and Clinical Medicine and Medical Humanities. As physician scientist, his main research interests are the neuroimmunology of CNS disease, such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease. He provided major contributions to unravel the role of dopamine and other catecholamines in the modulation of immunity in health and disease, and for the repurposing of dopaminergic and adrenergic drugs as non-conventional anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory therapeutics in neurology, rheumatology and oncology. Other interests include: clinical pharmacology, pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance, and pharmacology of herbal medicine. He has published so far more than 180 original papers, reviews, books and book chapters. In the field of *research integrity*, he is Coordinator of the graduate School on Methodology, Ethics and Integrity in Biomedical Research at the University of Insubria. He served in several Ethics Committees for human and animal experimental research and contributed to writing the Academic Ethics Code of the University of Insubria, and to revise it in 2020 with an original section about research integrity (https://tinyurl.com/yystzp47). He is presently delegate for the University of Insubria to the ENAI – European Network for Academic Integrity.

Jean G. Guerrero Dib

Jean Guerrero-Dib is currently Director of the Center for Integrity and Ethics at the University of Monterrey, Mexico. For more than 20 years he has been dedicated to education. Formerly, he worked as a Software Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Process Engineer at Citibank, Softek and Atcor -the latter based in the Silicon Valley-.
Besides being ICAI’s board member (International Center for Academic Integrity) and IJEI’s member of the board (International Journal for Educational Integrity), he is president of the Ethics and Compliance Commission of the Internal Control Institute and board member of “Ciudad de los Niños”. He also collaborates with different organizations that promote family values.

Dita Dlabolova

Dr Dita Dlabolová is an assistant professor in the Department of Informatics at the Faculty of Business and Economics, Mendel University in Brno, Czechia (Czech Republic). She has participated in multiple research projects dealing with academic integrity and has taken part in the organisation of the European Conference on Academic Integrity and Plagiarism. She is actively involved in European Network for Academic Integrity, namely in the creation of educational materials.

Summary of experience: Upon qualification I joined a national firm of solicitors as a commercial property lawyer. I acted for significant public and private organisations. I am currently a Professor of legal Education at Swansea University and a member of the QAA Advisory Group on Ethics and Integrity and a consultant expert with the ETINED (Ethics, transparency and integrity in Education) platform for the Council of Europe as well as a member of the ENAI outreach committee. I am also Director of the Swansea Academy for Inclusivity and Learner Success and Dean Regulations and Student Cases Swansea University.

Jarret Dyer

Jarret Dyer is an experienced Testing Center Administrator with over 18 years of industry experience. He is the Past-President of the National College Testing Association (NCTA), Executive Committee Member and serves as Co-Chair of the ATP-NCTA Remote Proctoring (e-Proctoring) Standards Joint Management Committee. He has been a featured speaker, debate panelist and industry expert on remote proctoring and test administration. He has consulted, developed and implemented test security plans for major US transportation agencies. His research interests focus on test administration, test security, and academic integrity. His most recent publication focused on how the testing environment impacts students’ decisions to cheat.
Jarret serves on multiple industry committees, including the Test Proctor Certification (NCTA), Online Proctoring Standards and Proctoring Best Practices (NCTA/ATP) committees. He frequently presents at NCTA, Association of Test Publishers (ATP), European Network of Academic Integrity (ENAI), European Association of Test Publishers (E-ATP)and the Conference on Test Security (COTS).

Sarah Eaton

Sarah Elaine Eaton, PhD, is an associate professor of education at the University of Calgary. She also holds the role of the inaugural Educational Leader in Residence, Academic Integrity. In 2020 she was the recipient of the national research award conferred by the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education (CSSHE) for her scholarly contributions on academic integrity in Canadian higher education. She is the editor of the International Journal for Educational Integrity published by Springer Nature. She is the author of Plagiarism in Higher Education: Tackling Tough Topics in Academic Integrity (ABC Clio). Her next book Academic Integrity in Canada (Eaton & Christensen Hughes, eds.), is slated for publication in late 2021. This latest volume will be first to launch a new international book series with Springer, Ethics and Integrity in Educational Contexts, for which Eaton has been appointed series editor.

Teddi Fishman

After earning her PhD from Purdue University and working in the field of Rhetoric and Writing, Dr. Teddi Fishman spent nearly a decade as the Director of the International Center for Academic Integrity, focusing on raising awareness, encouraging participation, and reinvisioning academic cultures so as to better appreciate and embrace the tenets of academic integrity. Currently, she collaborates with ENAI and works as a consultant, speaker, and advocate for education reform.

Tomas Foltynek

Dr. Tomáš Foltýnek is an assistant professor at the Department of Informatics and Academic integrity coordinator of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Mendel University in Brno, Czechia. He has been dealing with plagiarism since 2008. He was involved in the design of an internal system for plagiarism detection for Mendel University in Brno and in several projects on plagiarism and academic integrity. Since 2013 he has been organizing conferences on this topic. He is President of the Board of the European Network for Academic Integrity.

Inga Gaizauskaite

Inga Gaižauskaitė is a sociologist, currently working as a junior researcher at the Institute of Sociology of Lithuanian Centre for Social Sciences. Her research interests are social research methodology, democratisation, social capital, trust, ageing and intergenerational relationships. Since 2016, Inga Gaižauskaitė has been engaged with academic integrity research and education. She is a co-author of several publications on academic integrity; also, a co-guest-editor of a special issue “Improving Ethics Infrastructure: Looking for Customized Approaches and New Facets” for Journal of Academic Ethics (2019). Currently, she is a board member of European Network for Academic Integrity (ENAI) and leads Academic Integrity Surveys Working Group.

Irene Glendinning

Irene Glendinning, BSc, PhD, FBCS, CITP, CEng, is an associate professor based in the Office of Teaching and Learning at Coventry University, serving as the institutional lead on academic integrity. She has been a teacher, lecturer, manager and researcher, working in secondary, adult, further and higher education, covering a period of over 40 years. Since 2010 she has mainly focused on research into strategies for academic integrity, particularly concerning the design of workable institutional policies that deter misconduct in education and research and encourage a culture of scholarly learning. She continues to be engaged in research and international working groups focusing on improving academic integrity and fighting corruption. As a member of QAA’s Academic Integrity Advisory Group, she regularly contributes to national guidance in the UK and related events on this subject.

Zeenath Khan

Dr Zeenath Reza Khan is the Founding President and Board Member of the Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE, Assistant Professor of Cyber Ethics at Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, and Chair of Academic Integrity Committee at University of Wollongong in Dubai. She has been teaching in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences at the university since 2001.
Fellow of Wollongong Academy of Tertiary Teaching Excellence (WATTLE), Audit Board Member for European Network for Academic Integrity and Local Advisory Board Member of Our Own High School Al Warqa UAE (GEMS Education), Dr Khan is a national and international award winning academic with more than 60 publications to her name. Considered a Tier one speaker, Dr Khan’s research interests are in academic integrity, ethics in IT, teaching and learning, and STEM for girls. She has won the Vice Chancellor’s OCTAL award from UOW in 2016, Turnitin Global Innovation Award 2015, Teaching Excellence Award from UOWD in 2014, among others. Recently she was named among UAE’s 10 most influential educational leaders 2019 by The Knowledge Review, won the Digital Leader Award in Education category from Khaleej Times and MIT Sloan Mgt Review’s Digital Leaders Forum, 2019. Dr Khan was named 2020 Global Educational Influencer and one of 100 Most Admired People in Education in 2021 by The Excelligent.

Thomas Lancaster

Dr Thomas Lancaster is a Computer Scientist at Imperial College London, UK and is one of the world’s most prominent researchers into contract cheating, a term he introduced alongside the late Robert Clarke in 2006. His most recent research has focused on the firms and individuals completing work for students, methods of developing academic integrity partnerships with students and how academic misconduct has changed because of Covid-19. Thomas regularly speaks to the media about these issues and holds advisory board positions in the academic integrity field.

Martine Peters

Martine Peters is a professor and researcher at the Université du Québec en Outaouais where she teaches in the Education Department. She has a PhD in Educational Psychology (1999) from the University of Ottawa. Her research interests cover the following areas: digital scrapbooking strategies, writing processes, plagiarism, technopedagogy, integration of ICT in classrooms, teacher training, language teaching. She is the director of the Partnership Partnership on University Plagiarism Prevention (PUPP) which brings together 60 researchers and collaborators to find ways to decrease plagiarism in universities across Canada, Europe and the United States.

Salim Razi

Dr Salim Razı is an associate professor and the Director of Centre for Academic Integrity at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey. He is a founder Board member of the European Network for Academic Integrity. He developed the ‘Transparent academic writing rubric’ and recently focuses on preventing plagiarism through an ‘anonymous multi-mediated writing model’, for which he was awarded the Turnitin Global Innovation Award. It was also listed as a good practice by the Australian Government Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency. He is the convenor of the ‘4th Plagiarism across Europe and Beyond Conference’ and one of the editors of the book entitled ‘Towards consistency and transparency in academic integrity’.

Camilla Roberts

Ann Rogerson

Associate Professor Ann Rogerson is the Associate Dean (Education) at the Faculty of Business and Law at University of Wollongong (Australia). Holding a Doctor of Business Administration (Interpersonal Workplace communication), and Masters degrees in Management (Dist) and Higher Education (Dist), she researches issues related to the detection and prevention of academic integrity issues. From a governance perspective, she designs and implements policies, and investigates allegations of academic integrity for onshore and offshore campuses, and is a subject matter expert on the use of turnitin®. She chairs the institutional Academic Advisory Group and is on the editorial board of integrity related journals such as the IJEI.

Emilia Sercan

Emilia Șercan is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication Science; Department of Journalism, within the University of Bucharest and investigative journalist with 24 years of experience. Her research area is split into two directions: censorship in the communist news press and academic integrity. In 2015 Șercan published her doctoral thesis, The cult of secrecy. The Censorship Mechanisms in the Communist Press, Polirom Publishing House, and in 2017 she published the book Doctorates Factory: or How to Destroy a Nation’s Fundamentals, Humanitas Publishing House.
She earned several scholarships, both as professor and journalist: scholar of the State Department of the United States of America, Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars (SUSI) at Ohio University (2016); doctoral scholar of the French State at the University Standhal Grenoble 3, France (2012 – 2013); Erasmus scholar, professor mobility week in the Department of Communication, Media and Culture, Panteion University, Athens, Greece (2017); Erasmus scholar, professor mobility week in the Department of Journalism, Faculty of Information Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain (2014); Freedom House Fellow in the United States of America (2004).
As an investigative journalist, she exposed tens of plagiarism cases in doctoral thesis of Romanian top politicians or public figures and published more than 4.000 of journalistic investigations, interviews, analysis, editorials and news. She won several academic and professional prizes: Journalist of the Year (2016), the Prize for Freedom of Expression (2016), “Ion Rațiu” Prize for Journalism (2016), Professor of the Year (2017), the Prize “Nicolae Iorga” of the Romanian Society of Historical Sciences, European Network for Academic Integrity Award (ENAI) (2019) and the Social Dialogue Group Award (2020).

Shivadas Sivasubramaniam

Dr Shiva Das Sivasubramaniam (Dr SHIVA) is the Head of Biomedical Forensic science, within the School of Human Sciences, University of Derby, UK. He joined this University in August 2018 after completing 22 years as a senior and then principal lecturer in Nottingham Trent University within the UK.
He has an established and successful research career, focusing on both biomedical science and pedagogic approaches in scientific teaching. His scientific research specialises on the environmental and nutritional influences on early trophoblast invasion linking to pregnancy-related disorders such as pre-eclampsia. He is also collaborating with other international organisations to study the ethnic specific long-term effects of SARS-Cov2 infections.
His pedagogic research had made him famous in the academic world. It focuses on improving student engagement, academic integrity (including plagiarism awareness, deterrence) and medical ethics. He was one of the founding members of European Network of Academic Integrity (ENAI), which was established via collaborations amongst several European universities supported by the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnerships project (2016-1-CZ01-KA203-023949). His ambition and objectives are to promote integrity in whole academia (i.e. education, research and other aspects of academic sector) and beyond; to collaborate towards research and promotion of academic integrity. He has been delivering case-study based ethics workshops to under-/post-graduate students, and researchers around the world.

Deirdre Stritch

Dr. Deirdre Stritch has held a number of roles with Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), the national agency responsible for promoting quality and accountability in education and training in Ireland, and is currently Quality Assurance Approval and Monitoring Manager and Programme Manager for Academic Integrity Initiatives. Deirdre has significant regulatory experience with private and public providers. She has participated in national steering groups dealing with the internationalisation of Irish education; developing new regulatory structures for international learners accessing Irish education and has contributed to the development of legislation – the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act, 2019.
Previously, she managed projects related to the development and implementation of the National Framework of Qualifications with the National Qualifications Authority of Ireland and on national higher education policy development with the Higher Education Authority and the Royal Irish Academy.

Loreta Tauginiene

Ombudswoman for academic ethics and procedures in Lithuania. Associated Researcher at Hanken School of Economics, Finland. Member of the Editorial Board of Journal of Academic Ethics as well as of Journal of Management and Change. (Co-)guest Editor of two Special Issues and one book. Over 20 publications related to social responsibility, science in society and integrity (notably in Journal of Academic Ethics, International Journal for Educational Integrity, Ethical Perspectives). (Co-)author of a few book chapters, mainly published by international publishers, such as Springer, Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, Edward Elgar, etc.
Her research interests are academic/research integrity, social responsibility, public engagement/citizen science, and responsible research and innovation.
