Guidance for Authors

ECEIA25 Conference will be face to face.

Extended Abstracts

To submit your extended abstract, you will first need to register on the web site. All submissions will be made in Delegate Area.

Types of submissions:

  • Presentation
  • Poster
  • Workshop

Please note that the number of submissions for presentations and workshops is limited. Each author may be listed as an author or co-author on a maximum of two abstracts for presentations or workshops (e.g. one presentation, one workshop; two workshops; two presentations).

However, there is no limit on the number of poster submissions an author can make.

We are just requiring extended abstracts at this stage, not full papers. The peer review process is double-blind therefore your abstract should not contain any identifying information. Two or three reviewers will be assigned to review each abstract. Their feedback will be sent to you by email together with a decision based on the combined feedback from all reviewers.

The abstract should be clearly written, understandable, relevant both to the conference and the theme selected, with a meaningful title. The reviewers may ask the author to change, correct or improve any of these elements, especially if you there are missing details. The word length must be between 700 and 1000 words, not including references. Reviewers are not required to proof-read abstracts, but they may flag any obvious typos and grammar errors.

For ENAI conferences we very much welcome research focused submissions, but we also value practitioner reports and case studies.

This year’s conference themes are :

  • Ethical Use of AI in Education and Research: Exploring the ethical implications of integrating artificial intelligence in educational settings and research practices.
  • Publication Ethics: Addressing the challenges and best practices in maintaining integrity in academic publishing.
  • Research Security: Focusing on safeguarding scientific activities against misuse and undue influence, ensuring the protection of intellectual property and sensitive data.
  • Industrialization of Misconduct: Examining the rise of systematic fraudulent practices such as essay and paper mills and predatory journals, and their impact on scientific integrity.
  • Policy Development: Discussing the development and implementation of effective policies to promote and uphold ethical standards in academic and research environments.
  • Equity and Diversity in Academic Integrity, Research Integrity, and Research Ethics: Emphasizing the importance of fostering inclusive academic environments, promoting diversity, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all participants.

As these are extended abstracts, you may provide references to justify and support any claims you make and to acknowledge sources of information you refer to in paraphrases and quotations, using APA 7.

Figures or tables may be included in the abstract as long as the overall length of the abstract is not more than 5 pages, including text, figures, tables and references.

The abstract may include headings, but no numbering or sub-sections.

A typical abstract will include a mix of the following elements:

  • context or background
  • research questions, hypothesis or reasons for the activity or research
  • brief description of approach or methods
  • main message, what happened and what was learnt
  • the main audience for this contribution
  • what will be presented at the conference

Make sure that all references are to genuine and relevant sources that reflect the points that have been made about them.

For workshop proposals there needs to be clear evidence of interaction and audience participation, not just Q&A after a (long) presentation. Ideally there should be a provisional plan for how the workshop will operate or some indication of how the time will be used.

If any data is to be collected from participants that will be used in future research or publications, then informed consent is needed from participants and ethical approval is required from the ENAI ethics committee. Please go to the conference web site and select Resources, then Ethical Approval: https://www.academicintegrity.eu/wp/ethical-approval/ or contact  info@academicintegrity.eu for guidance.

We require APA 7 referencing and no footnotes, so please ensure that you comply with this requirement.

The closing date for submitting the abstracts is deadline for abstract submission and we need to complete the feedback process by deadline for completion of all reviews. We can expect from previous experience that some abstracts will need 2 or 3 rounds of review before we can accept them. We will assign abstracts to reviewers as they arrive and we have asked them to respond as quickly as possible, to avoid having to process a huge backlog by the deadline.

We also ask that authors read the comments carefully and provide a response to each of the reviewers to indicate briefly what you have changed and, if appropriate, why you disagree with advice or recommendation. As we have limited time, please review, correct and resubmit as soon as possible, in case further rounds of review are needed.

Ultimately, responding quickly and carefully to feedback from reviewers will help us to select and finalise the abstracts for the conference and ensure they accurately describe what each session is about, for the great benefit of conference participants.

We are very grateful for your all help and support in achieving this.
