What should be the punishment for not citing?

There is no question that all external sources but your ideas and thoughts have to be properly quoted in your work. In 2019, Diamond Rodriguez used a picture of a wooden floor in her work that was not taken by her, without properly giving a credit to the author. This caused her to be dumped from the entire course, and because she failed the course, she did not receive 2 credits, which brought another problem – she was not able to graduate.

You can find more information about this heated problem which led to several marches and protests at this link or here.

  • Would it be fair to let her re-submit the work with a precise citation?
  • Is it proper punishment to let her fail the course?
