CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

International conference on integrity in higher education, business and society

A one-day conference co-organized by Kherson National Technological University (Ukraine) and Uppsala University (Sweden)

18th May 2023

Venue: zoom

Registration: LINK

The aim of this one-day conference is to provide a forum for best practices and experience in relation to integrity in higher education, business and society. The conference will address a wide spectrum of issues related to academic integrity, research ethics, business ethics, and citizen science ethics. Although these issues are usually treated as separated fields, we especially welcome contributions that try to bridge two or more of these fields, such as research that focus on integrity in university-industry collaborations, research that is conducted in collaboration with the wider society (for example in the form of citizen science projects), or the transition from academic integrity into research ethics. We also especially welcome contributions that focus on issues related to open science as well as those focusing on different forms of academic dishonesty and how to prevent them. Our hope is to bring together researchers from a range of different research fields and educational backgrounds to reflect on these and other issues related to academic integrity.

Possible topics include but are not limited to:

  • Strategies for how to create bridges between academic integrity, business ethics and citizen science ethics.
  • Ethical challenges in University-Industry collaborations.
  • Ethical issues concerning the implementation of citizen science projects.
  • Best practices for promoting academic integrity and research ethics in higher education.
  • Academic dishonesty (such as contract cheating and plagiarism).
  • Ethical issues concerning the publication and dissemination of research.
  • Open science.

All submissions should be prepared for double-blind peer-review. They should contain two separate documents containing:

  1. An abstract of no more than 1500 words, explaining the topic of your presentation and how it relates to the overall theme of the conference.
  2. A cover letter that includes the title of your presentation, your name, institutional affiliation, academic degree and your contact information.

The abstract should be sent to Dr Sonja Bjelobaba (sonja.bjelobaba@crb.uu.se) no later than March 30th 2023.

A selected numsonja.bjelobaba@crb.uu.seber of presenters will be invited to contribute to an edited volume focusing on integrity in higher education, business and society. The volume is planned to be published either as part of a special issue in a scientific journal on academic integrity or as an edited volume.
