BRIDGE Project: Events

Webinar "Getting to know citizen science"

21.4.2023 13-14:30 CEST

Online event

hosted by: Mendel University in Brno

Citizen science, as a new concept, represents a long-standing tradition of involving the public in research and solving science-oriented but also social problems. It is particularly popular
in biodiversity research, ornithology, nature and landscape protection, medicine or astronomy.

This webinar will introduce participants to what citizen science is and introduce them to the ten principles of citizen science, according to the European Citizen Science Association. The so-called citizen science guidelines created as part of the BRIDGE international project will also be presented. In the case study, we will also try a concrete example of solving an ethical problem within the citizen science framework.

Target group: master students (other potential participants are welcome)

Webinar: Business Ethics

27.4. 2023 13-14:30 CEST

Online event

hosted by: Mendel University in Brno

Business ethics is the application of ethical values to business behaviour. It is relevant both to the conduct of individuals and to the conduct of the organisation as a whole. Not all the issues in business are covered by the law; business ethics deals with so-called “grey areas”. The individuals, therefore, face different tricky situations where they need to make a decision.

The aim of this webinar is to introduce business ethics decision-making to students of business-oriented programs. The students get information about factors influencing ethical decision-making and basic models of ethical decision-making. As part of the seminar, students will solve the ethical dilemmas and discuss the ethical questions related to their solution.

Target group: master students (other potential participants are welcome)

Language of the seminar: English

Citizen science is hardly known or established in North Macedonia, while it is pretty advanced and developed in EU countries for research, monitoring and awareness rising. Citizen science typically refers to research collaborations between scientists and volunteers to expand opportunities for scientific data collection and to increase awareness among the wider public. Citizen Science can be applied to any field or research. Just like any other research, citizen science raises a range of ethical questions and issues related to research integrity. The objective of the webinar is to share good CS experiences, to discuss ethics in and to promote the Citizen science approach.

Project Meeting in Brno(October 2021)

The project started already in 2020, but only in October 2021, there was the first face-to-face meeting which took place in Brno. The main aim of the meeting was to work together on the project outputs. Regarding the outputs, you can look forward to the academic integrity checklists for master and PhD students and their supervisors, and gamified cases of academic and research integrity (we have already seen illustrations for the game from the Ukrainian partner and they are astonishing).
